Second Half Goals Allow Beavers to Pull Away from Highlanders

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team defeated MacMurray College, 3-0,  on a cold and damp Tuesday afternoon in Carlinville.  The Beavers scored three skilled goals on the afternoon.  Jordan Allen drove a shot from behind the left side of box into the back of the net to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead at 18:02 of the first period.  Allen's goal was his team leading 9th of the season.

The match remained 1-0 until after the 8oth minute when Lucas Rinderer scored on an unselfish assist from Reed Gwillim.  Blackburn scored again 29 seconds later when Bobby Nash snuck a nifty shot into the back of the net to give the Beavers their final margin

Blackburn outshot MacMurray 17-5 on the afternoon.  Alex Hammerlinck recorded the shutout with the help of a strong defense which included Brandon Smith (pictured) and Steven Cowles.

The Beavers improve to 6-10-1 on the season and 3-5 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  MacMurray is now 1-15-1 and 1-7 in the SLIAC.
