Beavers Fall 2-0 to Greenville

After a scoreless first half, the Blackburn College Men's Soccer Team saw Greenville University put a pair of goals into the next to claim a 2-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon in Carlinville.  The first half saw pretty even play as Greenville did out-shoot the Beavers 10-4 in the period however Blackburn had the best scoring opportunity in the 35th minute as Romeo Godinez launched a missile just high of the net and the half ended 0-0.

In the second period the Panthers out-shot Blackburn 10-3 and Pablo Valverde found the back of the net twice as Jaime Torres picked up both assists for Greenville.  Blackburn falls to 1-8-2 overall and 0-3 in the SLIAC and will next host new conference member Lyon College on Thursday, October 12.  It will be the first match between the two schools.

"I thought we played well," said Blackburn Coach Josh Oswald after the match.  "We just couldn't get any shots at the net in the second half," added Oswald.
