Beavers Split Against Red Devils

Beavers Split Against Red Devils

Yesterday evening, April 9, the Blackburn College Softball Team faced the Red Devils of Eureka College in their first home conference game of the season. These were important games for the Beavers in proving that they deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament.

In the first game, Eureka came out strong in the first inning, scoring two runs early to take the lead. The Beavers then answered back, scoring four runs of their own. Both teams continued to battle until the top of the fourth inning when the Red Devils scored three runs and tied up the score, 5-5. In the fifth, both teams scored one run but in the bottom of the sixth, Blackburn managed to take the lead with one more run and hold off Eureka to take the win, 7-6.

In game two, both teams were evenly match. Yet, not willing to part with two losses, the Red Devils scored one run on a double and took their one and only point of the game. Blackburn didn't roll over though, and kept battling all the way through. Though they had runners in scoring position a few times, they couldn't manage to bring them in and tie up the score. The Red Devils took the win, 1-0.

Blackburn is now 6-18 overall and 2-4 in conference. The Beavers will host Webster University tonight, April 10, at 5pm and 7pm in their seventh conference game of the season.
