The Blackburn Softball Team had three players that were recognized for their play this season by the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Sophomore infielder Maddie Wichmann (Chatham, Illinois/ Glenwood), senior utility player Brooke Daniels (Lapel, Indiana / Lapel) and sophomore infielder Jackie Rose (Brussels, Illinois / Brussels) was named to the SLIAC Sportsmanship Team. Blackburn was awarded the Sportsmanship award as a team. The Beavers have won that award two of the last three seasons.
Wichmann, a second team selection, played in 21 games, tallying 16 hits and leading the team with six doubles. She also led the team with 11 walks.Wichmann finished with a .286 batting average and an on-base percentage of .403. She played well in the field with a .951 fielding percentage.
Daniels, was selected to the second team, was second on the Blackburn roster with 18 hits. She drove in six runs and earned a .300 batting average. Daniels led the team with 14 pitching appearances and had all four of Blackburn wins. She had 57 strikeouts and finished with a 3.62 earned run average.
Coach Crum expressed "Jackie was the best teammate and fan we had. She was constantly supporting everyone in any way possible" when asked about Rose this season.
