Softball Prepares for SLIAC Quarterfinals

CARLINVILLE, IL - Blackburn College Softball will take on Webster University Tuesday afternoon for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm and will be played at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex in Chesterfield, Missouri. 

The Beavers are making its first post-season trip since 2012 after finishing 17-21 overall and 6-10 in SLIAC play. They are hitting .300 this season and have scored the second most runs in the league with 219 total runs scored.. At the forefront of their offensive attack is a trio of underclassmen in sophomore Zoe Mitchell, freshmen Kailynn Kruep and Kenadee Frey, and senior, Holly Heuerman. Kruep is hitting .352 while Mitchell and Frey are both batting .321. Heuerman is hitting .320 with a team high 4 home runs. Senior Taylor Girth and junior Shelby Koeing have taken the ball for the majority of the season in the circle with each recording over 60 strikeouts. 

Webster is 24-12-1 overall and 11-5 in league play The Gorloks are hitting .316 as a team and scored 179 runs. Paige Thomas is batting .404 with 4 home runs and 24 RBI while Jaelin Holdaway is hitting .352 with 19 RBI. Madi Stichling is hitting .367 with a .456 on-base percentage while Katie Croxall is batting .378 with a team high 20 stolen bases. In the circle The Gorloks are comfortable going to any of their five pitchers with each throwing over 29 innings this season. Webster has five championships in program history with their last coming in 2021.

The winner of the game will advance to the SLIAC Finals beginning Thursday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky at Spalding University.
