Women's Basketball Loses Lead, Then Game

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team led a 10-point lead evaporate in a tough 53-48, St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to MacMurray College on Saturday afternoon.

After MacMurray scored the first basket, Blackburn went on a 12-0 run and then take a 28-20 lead into halftime.· MacMurray slowly picked away at the lead and tied the game at 35 with 13:01 remaining.· The game stayed close for the next six minutes and the Beavers regained the lead on an Ashley Miller Jumper to lead 40-39 with 8:44 to play. After the Beavers led 42-39 on a Briana Rae jumper, the Highlanders went on a 12-0 run to take control of the contest.

Rae, the freshman standout from Staunton, led the Beavers with 20 points and she also pulled down nine rebounds as the Beavers took a 40-33 rebounding advantage.· Blackburn shot 38 percent from the field on 19-50 shooting but just 3 of 13 from behind the arc.

Whittney Wade led the Highlanders in scoring with 16 points, as they move to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in SLIAC play.· Blackburn is now 0-17 on the season and 0-8 in league play.
