Morgan Named SLIAC Player of the Week

Blackburn College junior Ciara Morgan, a forward from Springfield, Illinois (Lanphier HS), was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of November 18-24. Morgan helped Blackburn secure their first win of the season, a 68-67 victory over Augustana College on Friday, November 22.  Morgan was the game's leading scorer with 25 points including three three-pointers, while adding nine rebounds, four assists and eight steals. In the win Morgan gave the Beavers the lead with six seconds remaining on a free-throw. She sealed the win by stealing the ball as time expired to prevent a last second shot attempt.

Earlier in the week Morgan tallied 13 points, seven rebounds five steals in a loss to Central (Iowa). On the week Morgan averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 6.5 steals per game. “It’s great for our program and our players to get recognition for the hard work that they have put in,” said Blackburn College Women’s Basketball Coach Jen Windmiller.
