Beavers Can`t Catch a Break

On Saturday, January 30th the Blackburn Women`s Basketball team hosted the Greenville Panthers in a conference match. The Beavers were 2-16 overall and 2-9 in the conference heading into this game. The Panthers were 12-6 overall and 8-3 in the conference. The Beavers got off to a rough start leaving the first quarter at 31-8 favoring the Panthers. Blackburn tried to fight back but the shots would not fall for them. Blackburn fell into foul trouble early in the first half which resulted in free throws for the Panthers. Halftime rolled around with the score of 48-14.

The Beavers came out with energy in the second half with Aleisha Stiltner leading the pack with 13 points and 2 rebounds. Leading the Panthers was Taylor Paulin with 14 points and Missy deal with 11 points. Claire Schmitt contributed 5 rebounds and 2 assists as well. The game didn’t turn in favor for the Beavers trailing the Panthers by a substantial amount the entire game. The Beavers 26 turnovers for the game left the door wide open for the Panthers to widen their lead. The final score was 80-28 Greenville. The Beavers fall to 2-17 overall and 2-10 in conference play.

 The Women`s Basketball team travels to Webster College to play in a conference match up on February 3rd. Game time is estimated to start at 6PM.
