Women's Basketball falls to Rockford

CARLINVILLE, IL – Blackburn's College Women's Basketball faced off against Rockford University in a non-conference game, yet fell to the Regents to the score of 85-38.

 

Senior Ashanti Jones led the Beavers with 15 points. Followed by Kailynn Kruep with 7 points and 2 steals. Senior Miley Kwiatkowski had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Caidy Tuetken led the rebound category with 5. 

 

The Beavers and Regents would come out slow with neither team scoring in the first two minutes of the game. The Regents would quickly go on a run start at the 8-minute mark. The Beavers tried to battle but could not get in rhythm. Rockford would pull away and lead at the end of the first, 20-5. The Beavers struggled offensively and just could not get anything to fall. Ashanti Jones and Kailynn Kruep would knock down a few shots but the Regents would keep pulling away and and the end of the half they would lead, 41-16. The Beavers kept fighting and would improve in the second half scoring 22 points in the second half. The Regents never let up and would win, 85-38. 

 

Blackburn drops to 2-4 and they hope to bounce back at home when they face off against Eureka College on Saturday, December 2nd at 1:00 pm.
