The Blackburn College Women's Soccer team opened up SLIAC play on Homecoming Weekend. With all types of festivities going around on campus, the Beavers wrapped up the day with 2-0 shutout win over the Highlanders of MacMurray College.

MacMurray had twenty shots on the afternoon while Blackburn only had ten, but the Beavers outdueled them in the only part of the game that matters: goals.

After a half of no scoring, Blackburn's Allison Guerra(Elsah, Ill.) lifted a perfectly placed shot over the goalkeeper's head at the 55 minute mark to put her team up 1-0. Alexis Richie(Carlinville, Ill.) earned the assist. Just five minutes later, Richie knocked home a goal of her own as an insurance tally. Guerra tallied an assist along with Nique Byots(Carlinville, Ill.) on the Beavers' second goal.

Two goals of support is all senior goalkeeper Shana Sewick(Belvidere, Ill.) needed. She notched her fourth shutout of the season by making twelve saves.

The Beavers are now 1-0 in SLIAC play and 4-4 overall. Blackburn will travel to Robert Morris University-Springfield on Tuesday. Kick-off is slated for 5 P.M.
