Women's Soccer Falls to Benedictine-Springfield

After a fairly evenly played first half saw the Blackburn College Women's Soccer team trailing just 1-0, the second half on Wednesday afternoon against Benedictine University - Springfield was a different story.  The Bulldogs' Cathy Tram notched four second half goals to lift Benedictine-Springfield to a 5-0 non-conference victory in Carlinville.

Though out-shot 20-5 in the first half, Blackburn stayed right there with the Bulldogs thanks to Shana Sewick's stellar play in goal as she notched nine first half saves.  Sewick finished with 18 saves for the contest.

Alexis Richie had four shots while Nique Byots had three and Allison Guerra had to to account for Blackburn's scoring attempts.

The Beavers were a little banged up in the second half and the Bulldogs used their depth to wear down Blackburn in the second 45 minutes.  Benedictine-Springfield out-shot Blackburn 47-9 for the contest including 27-4 in the second half.
