Beavers Win Third Straight

Beavers Win Third Straight

On Saturday afternoon the women's soccer team hosted conference rival Eureka College to kickoff homecoming weekend.  Just ten days earlier the Beavers came away with a 3-1 road victory over the Red Devils who maintained a one goal lead for the game's opening thirty minutes.  This time the Beavers jumped out to an early lead.  Freshman Makayla Ewing scored her fourth goal of the season in just the 2nd minute of the match.  Senior co-captain Christy Hobbs and junior Jessica Esper teamed up in the 12th minute as Esper scored for the third straight match.  Esper again found the net in the 35th minute as she was setup by sophomore Jasmine Tillman.  Senior co-captain Anneliese Darow scored from distance in the 37th minute after receiving a pass from Hobbs to close the scoring in the first half.  The Beavers led 4-0 at halftime after outshooting Eureka 17-0.

Tillman opened the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal in the 47th minute.  Sophomore Adriana Darow scored just one minute later to push the lead to 6-0.  Hobbs scored her fourth goal of the season in the 60th minute on an assist from Ewing.  Adriana Darow scored her second goal of the match seconds later after being setup by Esper.  Freshman Maya March played the first 64 minutes in goal but scored her fourth goal of the season after moving to the field during the 81st minute after being setup by junior Samary Garcia.  Garcia closed the scoring with her first collegiate goal after being setup by freshman Annie Gantt

The 10-0 victory pushed Blackburn's overall record to 5-6-1.  Blackburn has now won three matches in a row and looks to extend its winning streak with a big road match against rival MacMurray College on Wednesday afternoon.
