Three First Half Goals Doom Women's Soccer

Alexis Sponable scored a hat trick in the first half to help lead the visiting Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Blackburn on Friday afternoon in Carlinville.  The three goals came less than seven minutes apart for MBU.  The first goal was at the 32:37 mark unassisted.  The second goal came at 36:45 on a free kick and the final goal for the Sabercats came at 39:29

The Beavers got on the board at 61:33 on a header by Jasmine Tillman who received a header from Adriana Darow for the assist.  For the match the Sabercats out-shot Blackburn 20-11.  Annica Mackay-Slavin had four saves in goal for Blackburn while Hannah Wells saved five for Maranatha Baptist.  Maria Cline and Morgan Zobrist each had two shots on goal for the Beavers who fall to 0-7 on the season.  Maranatha Baptist is now 3-3 on the season.

Blackburn is back home on Saturday to host the Regents of Rockford University in a 3:00 p.m. start.
