Blackburn Falls to Principia

On October 24th, the Blackburn College Women's Volleyball team took on the Principia College Panthers in a conference match-up at Blackburn College.  Coming into the game, the Panthers were ranked fourth in the conference with a conference record of 12-4.  Entering the game, Blackburn had won three of its previous five games and looked to bounce back after a tough loss to Illinois College the previous week.  

The Panthers got off to a quick start defeating the Beavers in the first set 25-15.  In the second set, the Panthers got off to another good start but, the Beavers regained their composure.  The set was tied 5 times coming down the stretch but, late in the set the Panthers got hot and won 25-20.  In the third set, the Panthers continued right from where they left in the second set and had two runs of seven or more points to put the Beavers away and win the third and final set 25-8.  Principia College won the match 3-0.

Leading the way for the Beavers in kills was Kendall Knop with eight kills.  Jensen Ballinger led the team in assists with nine, and leading the team in digs was Kendall Knop with 14.

Leading the way for the Panthers in kills was Sophia Hathaway and Emily Tippetts with ten each.  Devon Maurande led the Panthers in assists with 31 and Mia Gill led the team in digs with 19.  

The Beavers are back in action on Friday October 27th against Eureka College with game time starting at 7 pm.  This is also costume night in Dawes Gymnasium.  There will be a costume contest with prizes after the game.
