Volleyball Splits Two Matches

Senior hitter Alanni Young led the Blackburn College Volleyball Team to a 3-2 victory over Eureka College on Saturday in Carlinville.  Young tallied 15 kills as the Beavers won 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13.  The Beavers claimed the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match as senior Kendall Knop added 13 kills.  Kendall Burleyson had 47 assists and Annika Ochs had 20 digs to lead the Beavers in those categories.

In the second match of the afternoon, the Beavers fell to Principia College 3-1 by the scores of 23-25, 25-20, 23-25 and 15-25.  Young and Knop led the way in kills again for Blackburn with Young having eleven kills and Knop ten.  Knop had 21 digs while Burleyson had 39 assists.  

The Beavers are now 2-6 overall but 2-1 in SLIAC play which is the best conference start to a season in years.
