Magnussen's 26 Kills Lead Beavers to First Victory

Blackburn College Sophomore Outside Hitter Lucy Magnussen had a career-high 26 kills to lead the Beavers to a five-set conference victory over Principia College on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky by scores of 22-25, 25-15, 20-25, 28-26, and 15-12.  The win snaps a 35 match losing streak to Principia dating all the way to the 2000 season.

Elizabeth Bowyer and Kaitlyn Wiegand joined Magnussen in double digit kills with twelve and eleven respectively.  Kendall Burleyson had 47 assists in the match which equalled her career-high.  Burleyson also led the team in digs with 19 while Amanda Swedberg had 17 and Annika Ochs, Autumn Wilson and Bowyer all had 15 apiece.

The win marks the first collegiate coaching victory for first-year coach Morgan Hauser.

Blackburn after the match was 1-8 and 1-1 in conference play ahead of a match against conference foe Webster University.
