Alexandria Quarton Added to Women’s Cross Country Coaching Staff

Alexandria Quarton has accepted the invitation to join the staff of the Blackburn College women’s cross country team as a volunteer assistant coach. Alexandria is originally from Litchfield, Illinois, and was a four-time all-conference cross country athlete at Litchfield High School where she qualified for the IHSA state cross country meet.

After high school, Alexandria attended the University of Illinois at Springfield (“UIS”) and competed at the NCAA DII level as a member of the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams. Alexandria’s fastest 6k time at UIS would have been the fastest in Blackburn College history. Alexandria graduated from UIS with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and now works as a travel PRN nurse out of St. Louis.

“I am excited to welcome Coach Alexandria as an assistant coach in our program!” said Coach Al Sturgeon, head coach of the Blackburn cross country teams. “Not only has Coach Alexandria been a highly successful distance runner both in a local area high school and at the NCAA DII college level (and beyond), she has been a part of building a program at UIS that can serve as a model for what we hope to accomplish at Blackburn.”

Coach Alexandria said, “I am beyond excited to assist Coach Sturgeon in creating a winning environment! I always knew I wanted to coach athletes after my collegiate career ended. I’m ready to help mentor student athletes achieve their goals, break school records, and make memories!”
