Women's Cross Country Concludes Season at SLIAC Championships

LITCHFIELD, IL -- Blackburn College Women's Cross Country concluded their season by taking seventh at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet Saturday morning. The meet marked the first time this season the team ran a 6K course.

Pacing the Beavers was junior Olivia Leemon, who took 18th place in a time of 27:26.74, placing her just two spots and four seconds shy of earning an All-Conference selection. Her efforts also earned her SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors for the third time of her career.

Freshman Kailynn Kruep placed second for BC, finishing the course in 32:35.88.

Freshman Gracie Jent completed her run in 34:12.51 while senior Elizabeth Morris crossed the finish line in 36:12.42.

Rounding out the top five finishers for Blackburn was junior Ashanti Jones, with a time of 41:57.62.

Also finishing for BC was freshman Ella Wilson, who's time of 46.26.09 proved the difference between Blackburn and Mississippi University for Women, as her finish gave the Beavers the tiebreaker to take seventh place.

With the conclusion of the SLIAC Championship meet, the team's season comes to a close as does Head Coach Jay Weber's first season leading the team. "The women had a great day! I am so excited for Liv. Her race was incredible and helped show herself what she is capable of," said Weber. "I am also so thankful for the contributions of our multi-sport athletes who made our season successful. Conference was a great conclusion to this season and has our program excited for the future!"
