Blackburn Athletics Inducts Inaugural Class into Chi Alpha Sigma
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Athletics inducted 22 student athletes as part of their inaugural class into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society on Thursday, April 4.
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Athletics inducted 22 student athletes as part of their inaugural class into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society on Thursday, April 4.
Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes undergraduate college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 and higher cumulative grade point average. It is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor those four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.

The purpose of Chi Alpha Sigma is to
- encourage and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four ear accredited colleges and universities
- recgonize outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter winner
- encourage good citizenship, moral character and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics
- recognize and honor the individual athlete, his/her team, sports athletic department, and college or university
- mentor and to provide leadership to other athletes
