Koenig, Oberkfell Named Athletes of the Week

CARLINVILLE, IL- Senior Shelby Koenig and Sophmore Collyn Oberkfell earned Blackburn College Athletes of the Week.

Koenig was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after her Perfect Game showing last week. In the team's first game of the week last week, an 8-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist University, Koenig struck out all 15 batters she faced for the shutout victory. The perfect game marks the second time in league history someone threw a perfect game, and first time in recorded Blackburn Softball history.

Oberkfell set a new school record and personal best in the 800m, clocking 2:08.81 at their first meet if their outdoor season.

Baseball returns Thursday as they face off with Monmouth and then they head ot St. Louis on Saturday to take on Fontbonne. Softball is also traveling Saturday to Missouri to take on Westminster for their first conference game of the season.
