Blackburn Falls at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, MO – Blackburn College Men's Basketball visited Fontbonne University Wednesday night in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action but fell to the conference leaders 92-78.

Pacing the team was senior Izayah Talmadge, who led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Odis Grissom added 14 points while sophomore Darius Duff notched 12.

Talmadge gave Blackburn the first score of the game with a three then added a free throw to make it 4-0 early. Fontbonne soon tied the score and the two teams traded baskets until seeing a 25-25 tie with nine minutes left in the half. Unfortunately, Fontbonne would get hot while the Beavers went cold from the floor to end the half on a run and took a 54-34 lead into halftime.

Blackburn quickly narrowed the game to 60-48 four minutes into the second half, but it would be the closest BC would manage to get as Fontbonne captured the 92-78 victory.

Despite the loss, Blackburn remains in the fifth seed for the conference tournament next week but will not know their opponent until after Saturday's slate of games. Fontbonne remains in a three-way tie for the conference's top seed.

The Beavers conclude their regular season on Saturday as they host Greenville University in another SLIAC matchup. Greenville is currently tied with Fontbonne atop the conference standings. Prior to Saturday's game, BC will honor their seniors, Talmadge and Zach Kesley as part of Senior Day.
