Beavers Battle Back but Come Up Short
COLUMBUS, MS– The Blackburn College Men’s Basketball Team started their on the road stretch with their first matchup being against MUW. The Beavers fell short in a heart wrenching loss, 62-64.

Senior Brody Barr led the Beavers again in back-to-back games with 23 points. Another career high for Barr, he also led the team in rebounds with 6, and was 83% from the line. Barr is leading the Beavers from the line on the season with 81.4%. Sophomore Odis Grissom was not far behind as he put up 15 points and off the bench freshman Landon Driscoll with 10 points.
The Owls get out on the board early with a 6 point lead to start the first half. The Beavers end that streak with a layup by Barr. Junior Tyson Johnson drains a three to bring them within 4 points. The Owls pull away to stretch the lead to double digits. Driscoll with a three to keep them in the first half. A technical foul late in the first by the Owls earned the Beavers one point and then another layup by Barr kept the Beavers within 7. They battled back and forth taking possession of the game. The Owls pull away to lead at the end of the first half 30-25.
An electric 2nd half for the Beavers as they shot 52% overall and 85% from the line. Out of the half, the Beavers got off to a slow start but Discroll with the assist from Barr started their 5 point stretch. Grissom with a layup to keep pace with the Owls. MUW pulls away to maintain the lead. Barr with an and one to keep the Beavers within 7 points. As the clock timed down, Grissom scored 5 points to make it 49-55. The Beavers were persistent and stayed with the Owls. With a minute, Barr got an and one with the freethrow good which brought the score 60-61. Grissom with the layup puts the Beavers up 62-61. A foul on the last shot, with made buckets, by the Owls finishes the game, 64-62.
The Beavers are still on the road for more SLIAC play this Saturday against the Scots of Lyon.
