Blackburn Men's Soccer Dominates on Senior Day

Blackburn Men's Soccer dominated Eureka College by the score of eight to zero on Wednesday, April 14th in Carlinville. 



This would be the last home game of the season as the Beavers would celebrate two seniors. The two seniors Jordan Liehser and Nick Russell each scored a goal in the win over the Red Devils. The Beavers would be in control of the whole game outshooting the Red Devils 56-1.

 

 Leihser graduated from Greenville High School before committing to Blackburn.  Throughout Leihser's career he played in 54 games and started in 24 of them.. He has scored a total of eight goals and two assists. He has accounted for 20 points in his four years. He is planning on graduating in the spring and hopes to find a job as an english teacher. 

 

Russell graduated from Staunton High School before becoming a Beaver. Russell has played in 34 games and started in eight games. Over his career, Russell has scored three goals and had three assists. He accounted for a total of nine points. Russell is majoring in business management. 



Blackburn would get an early lead as Anthony Coppotelli scored in the 15th minute. Yeudiel De Leon was credited with a nice assist to set up Coppotelli. Six minutes later the Beavers would strike again as freshman Hayden Reese scored in the 21st minute. In the 30th minute Hayden Fox would add to the lead with a nice shot in the top right corner. Blackburn would score one more goal before half and lead 4-0.




In the second half Russell would keep the Beavers rolling as he would score his last goal at home. De Leon was credited with another assist. The other senior Leihser would join the fun and score a header to extend the lead 6-0. Resse with the assist. Blackburn would add two goals one was an "own goal" and the other was scored by Prince Balaba




UP NEXT: Blackburn will travel to Greenville on Saturday, April 24th. This is the last game before the SLIAC Tournament.
