Beavers Unable to Stop Greenville in Tough Loss

The Beavers kicked off against Greenville today at 3:00 p.m. After a tough battle, the Beavers would fall to the Panthers by a final score of 2-0.

Blackburn’s Luke Atkinson came out firing in the first couple of minutes with a steamer to the top right of the goal that was barely saved by Greenville. The Beavers would stay on the offensive for the first 15 minutes of the game, putting a lot of pressure on Greenville. The Panthers, after holding the Beavers off for the first minutes of the game, got to a hot start scoring in the 19th minute and then again around the 43-minute mark.  The Beavers would switch goalies and put in Luke Stieb, who would shut the Panthers down for the rest of the half, collecting two saves.

Greenville came out in the second half trying to put some pressure on Blackburn, but Luke Stieb would hold them scoreless, saving four shots in the second half. The Beavers tried to fight back but were unable to generate any true offense against the Panthers.

Luke Atkinson had three shots on goal leading the team offensively followed by Shane Greathouse, Nicholas Vaughn, Dylan Klunk, Jamie Jose Pineda, and Noah Klimpel all having one shot on goal.

Luke Stieb would end the game with six saves, holding the Panthers to just one goal after the goalie switch.

The Beavers now sit at 4-9-4, and 1-7-4 in the SLIAC. The Beavers travel to Fulton, Missouri on Wednesday, October 26th, where they will play another conference game against Westminster, beginning at 7 p.m.
