Beavers Tie With Principia During Homecoming Game

Blackburn Men's soccer tied with the Principia Panthers on Saturday afternoon for their homecoming game. Neither team was able to score a goal during the contest.

 

The first half was uneventful, with Principia mustering five shots in the half, while Blackburn only had one. There were no cards or penalty shots during the first half.

 

In the second half, several cards were issued. Principia's E.G. Pierce was issued a yellow card at the 57:05 mark. Not long after, Blackburn's Joyce Kabesa was given a yellow card, at the 57:11 mark. 

Following this, Principia was able to get a handful of shots on goal off, each of which were saved by Blackburn goalkeeper, Aidan Hamerlinck.

 

Shane Greathouse was issued a yellow card at the 68:59 mark. Shortly after, Principia's Walter Lazo was given a yellow card, around the 82:36 mark. 

 

A few extra shots were taken by Blackburn following the final yellow card, but Principia's goalkeeper, Torben Renhert, was able to save all of them.

 

 

With this game, Blackburn moves to an overall record of 3-3-2, and 0-2-2 in the SLIAC. Their next match will be against Fontbonne University on Wednesday, September 28th. The game is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. in Carlinville.
