Beavers Collect 3-0 Victory Over MUW
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer collected their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season Thursday afternoon by defeating Mississippi University for Women 3-0.

CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer collected their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season Thursday afternoon by defeating Mississippi University for Women 3-0.
The Beavers got on the board in the 36th minutes when Cristian Cazares scored his first career goal. Freshman Marc Pierre found freshman Tyler Marconi as he raced past the MUW defense. Marconi fired a shot that was deflected away by the Owls' keeper, but the ball bounced right to Cazares and he was able to fire it right into the bottom right corner of the net.
With less than a minute left in the half, junior Landan Tribble scored his first career goal. Taking possession near midfield, Tribble dribbled up the right sideline, took it around two Owl defenders then from just above the endline, blasted it over the goalkeepers head into the top left corner to give BC a 2-0 halftime lead.
The second half saw Blackburn add another goal in the 51st minute when freshman Grant Eugea found the net for the third time this season. Freshman Fredy Paiz received the ball along the left sideline and used four touches before center the ball to Eugea who was able to place the ball between the left post and the goalkeeper to move the lead up to 3-0.
Blackburn outshot the Owls 20-3 on the day as they recorded their first shutout of the season. Cazares led the attack with four shots and Eugea added three. Paiz, senior Shane Greathouse and freshman Johnny Perla all added two shots as well.
The Beavers return to action Saturday when they head to Spalding University.
