BATESVILLE, AR -- A second half goal by Lyon College proved too much to overcome as the Blackburn College Men's Soccer team fell to the Scots 2-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday morning.
The Scots scored first late in the first half but the Beavers tied it up with just seconds to go before the break. After a penalty gave Blackburn a free kick in front of the Lyon bench, freshman Ty Dyson lobbed the ball over the Scots' defense near the left side of the goal. Freshman Saul Flores got his head on the ball as it come down and placed it back across the goal into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1 right before halftime.
Unfortunately, the hosts managed to score a second goal early into the second half which proved the difference, giving the Scots a 2-1 victory.
Flores and freshmen Brayden Smith and Henry Ibarguen paced the offensive attack as they tied for the team's lead in shots. Senior goalkeeper Dawson Klunk tallied three saves.
Blackburn returns to their home field Wednesday to host Webster University in another SLIAC clash.
