CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn Men's Soccer team took on Webster University on their home field Thursday afternoon for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The close contest was decided on a tough goal late in the first half to give the Gorloks a 1-0 victory.
Freshman Brayden Smith led the Blackburn offense with two shots while six others also had a shot. Webster was called for 22 fouls in the match compared to BC's 13.
Late in the first half, Webster took a corner kick from the right corner which was kicked into the middle of the box. Unfortunately the ball was deflected off a Blackburn defender into the net to give the Gorloks the 1-0 victory.
The Beavers return to action Saturday when they host Fontbonne University in a matchup of SLIAC foes.
