GREENVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer scored in the first half of their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup at Greenville College, but it wasn't enough as the Beavers fell 3-1 to the league-leading Panthers.
After an early Greenville goal, Blackburn answered in the 28th minute. BC was given a corner kick which freshman Grant Eugea kicked into the middle of the box. Freshman Brayden Smith got in front of a Greenville defender and headed the ball directly to freshman Cristian Cazares who booted the ball between a GC defender and their goalkeeper to score his second goal of the season.
However, the Panthers responded with a second goal of the first half in the 40th minute, and were able to add an insurance goal in the second half to make it 3-1.
Blackburn will return to action Tuesday when they head to St. Louis University for a match with the NCAA Division I Billikins before heading to Eureka College Wednesday. Their match against Eureka will feature major SLIAC Tournament implications as a win over the Red Devils and a Fontbonne University loss at Spalding University will secure the Beavers a postseason appearance.
