Men's Soccer Places Three on All SLIAC Teams
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer saw three student athletes earn postseason awards as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Team selections were announced.
Sophomore Johnny Perla earned Second Team All-SLIAC distinction. The midfielder finished the year with a goal on 12 shots, but played a key role in the team's ability to control midfield throughout the year. Behind Perla's leadership, the Beavers finished the year outshooting their opponents 264-199. Perla's goal came on a penalty kick against Lyon College, in the team's fourth conference match, and was the first goal the Scots allowed in SLIAC play.
Freshman Nathan Soto finished the year with five goals and six assists, with two goals and two assists coming during SLIAC action. He recorded a goal and assist in four games. In the team's win over Mississippi University for Women, Soto tallied two goals and an assist. He also added an assist at Spalding University. Prior to conference play, Soto tallied a goal and two assists in a win over Spurgeon College. He finished the year with 38 shots.
Senior Landan Tribble was placed on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Tribble got the start against Eureka College and appeared in 12 matches this season. Throughout the season, he played a key leadership role as one of just three seniors on the team and only senior along the defense.
This year's team finished with two more wins over the 2024 season and continues to inch closer to postseason play.
