Track & Field Competes at True Blue Open

JACKSONVILLE, IL – The Blackburn College Track and Field teams competed in the True Blue Open hosted by Illinois College over the weekend and came away with a first place finish and several good strong marks. 

Leading the team was the performance of the men's 4x800 meter relay team that captured first place in a time of 9:54.40. The team consisted of senior Luis Alvarado and freshman Christian Miller, Sam Burrows and Collyn Oberkfell

Oberkfell also competed in the long jump and the 800 meter run. He posted a jump of 17'2" for 22nd place and posted a time of 2:17.06 in the 800.  Burrow competed in the men's 1500 run and finished in 4:38.05. Miller posted a time of 21:29.14 in the 5000 meter run. 

Also competing for the men included freshman Kobe Patton who ran the 100 meter dash in 13.27.  Junior Marco Nova was in the 400 meter dash, and ran 1:07.19 while freshman Julio Palma ran the 200 meter dash in 27.14 

For the women, Molly Koskey took 32nd in the 1500 run, completing the race in 6:04.72. She also ran the 800 meter run in 3:02.86.

The track and field teams will return to action Saturday to compete in the Greenville Invitational.
