Indoor Track & Field Season Starts at First Chance Meet
BLOOMINGTON, IL -- The 2024-25 Blackburn College Indoor Track & Field season began Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan University First Chance Meet.
BLOOMINGTON, IL -- The 2024-25 Blackburn College Indoor Track & Field season began Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan University First Chance Meet.
Sophomore Collyn Oberkfell and freshman Byron McNeil both placed fifth in different events to lead the Beavers.
Oberkfell posted a time of 1:34.57 in the 600 meter run whlie McNeil's triple jump of 42 feet, 11.25 inches placed him fifth. McNeil also posted a time of 37.70 in the 300 meter run.
Junior Landan Tribble ran a 1:42.27 in the 600 and placed 13th. Sophomore Sam Burrows placed 14th in the one mile run, finishing in 5:01.64 and was joined in the race by sophomore Christian Miller and senior Ulises Espinoza.
Senior Kobe Patton competed in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash, and was joined in the 200 by Julio Palma.
The men's team also saw Burrows, Oberkfell, Tribble and Palma run in the 4x400 meter relay.
The women's team featured junior Isabella Harrington compete in three events, the 200 meter run, the 300 meter run and the 600 meter run. Freshman Michaela Moulton took part in the shot put.
Blackburn will return to action January 31 when they take part in the Principia College Relays.
