Men's Cross Country Finishes Season At SLIAC Championships

LITCHFIELD, IL -- The Blackburn College Men's Cross Country team finished their season at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet Saturday. 

Leading the way for the Beavers was freshman Sam Burrows who finished the 8K course in 30:42.58. Senior Luis Alvarado finished second for the squad with a time of  31:09.61 while earning his second-straight SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team selection. 

Two runners for BC nearly tied as freshman Ulises Espinoza crossed the finished line in 37:33.16 with freshman Christian Miller nearly right next to him, posting a time of 37:33.92.

Rounding out the Blackburn team was freshman Collyn Oberkfell with a time of 37:52.30.

The Beavers finished the day in ninth place. 

The conclusion of the SLIAC Championship meet marks the end of the cross country season and first season for Head Coach Jay Weber. "The men did a great job," said Weber. "I am so happy for Luis to finish his college Cross Country career with a solid race. Sam and Christian have been so important for us and I'm pleased with the progess of Uli and Collyn in ther first season. A lot to look forward to from here."
