It was a rainy and cloudy afternoon this past Friday at the Hillsboro Country Club for the Greenville Classic, and the Blackburn College Men’s Cross Country team easily ran their best race of the year. Blackburn raced five athletes among the 102 competitors from ten schools. Host, Greenville, came in second in the team competition. Heartland Community College took first place in the meet with a score of 26.

Newcomer and Freshman, Sam Burrows, led the way for the Beavers for the third consecutive race, finishing the five-mile course in 31:44 (6:23 mile pace). Team Captain and Senior Luis Alvarado was right behind him, finishing in 32:09 (6:28 mile pace). Freshman Ulises Espinoza finished third for Blackburn with a time of 40:08. Not far behind were two freshmen, Christian Miller and Collyn Oberkfell who came in at their respective times of 41:46 and 42:55 to round off the scoring for Blackburn.
