Blackburn Still in Splitsville Against Rose-Hulman

On Sunday, April 6, the Blackburn Softball Team traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana to face the Engineers of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

In the first game, Blackburn started out strong, scoring their four runs before the sixth inning. Rose-Hulman made a surprising come back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs and taking the lead over the Beavers. With one more at bat, Blackburn couldn't manage to pull in two more runs and the game ended 4-6

The second game proved to be successful for the Beavers. Both teams went back and forth, tieing the score every inning. That is, until Megan Ude grounded out to shortstop and advanced Melissa Heigert to third, who then scored on an error by first base, giving Blackburn the lead. The Beavers then held off Rose-Hulman for three more innings and brought in a win, 3-2.

The Blackburn Softball Team is now 5-15 overall and 1-3 in conference. They will face Missouri Baptist April 8, on the road in a rescheduled game. Blackburn will then return to play their first home game of the season against Eureka College Wednesday, April 9, at 5pm and 7pm.
