Blackburn Softball Falls in SLIAC Quarterfinals

CHESTERFIELD, MO – The Blackburn College Softball team returned to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2012 and scored first but were unable to hold on as they fell to Webster University 4-2 in the SLIAC Quarterfinals.

Freshman Kenadee Frey got the Beavers on the board early by hitting her fourth home run of the season. It is also the second time this year she has homered in the team's first at bat of the game.

In the fifth inning, junior Julianna Tabian singled to get on base and Frey followed with a double to centerfield which scored Tabian and put Blackburn ahead 2-0.

However, the Gorloks responded with four runs in their sixth inning which proved too much to overcome as Blackburn fell 4-2.

Senior Holly Heuerman finished the game 2-3 with two singles to aid the Blackburn offense.

With the loss the Beavers finish the season at 17-22. Their 17 wins are the most wins in a season since the 2013 season.
