Women's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Game to Knox

The Blackburn College Women's Basketball Team dropped a 65-42 non-conference decision to Knox College in Carlinville on Monday night.  The visiting Prairie Fire raced out to a 23-11 first quarter lead and stayed in control for most of the contest.  Knox carried a 36-23 lead into halftime.  Blackburn came out and cut into what became a 17-point lead in the early 3rd quarter and made it 40-30 on a Jenna Dudra jumper.  The Beavers were not able to close the game any tighter and Knox ran out to a 56-34 lead by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Blackburn was led in scoring by freshmen Kate Smith and Jenna Dudra with eleven and ten points respectively.  The Beavers struggled shooting the ball finishing at 21 percent on 15 of 73 shooting from the field.  Maria Cline and Gariel Pierce each had eight rebounds.

Knox was led by game-high scorer Jarrelyn McCall with 20 points.

Blackburn falls to 1-8 on the season while Knox improves to 6-2.
