Women's Basketball Drops Conference Game to Eureka

Blackburn Women's Basketball lost their SLIAC conference match to the visiting Red Devils of Eureka College on Wednesday night. The final score was 92-68. The game was played at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.

 

Aryanna Harris stood out for Blackburn both offensively and defensively. She collected a total of 27 points, shooting 10-20 on field goals, and 1-4 from behind the arc. She was a perfect 6-6 on free throws, while also collecting six rebounds, as well as two assists. Hannah Box tallied twelve points, while Mariah Hopson racked up eleven of her own. Box shot 4-14 on field goals, and was 4-4 on free throws. Hopson shot 4-10 on field goals, and 2-4 from the three-point line. Hopson was also responsible for five assists, and collected three rebounds as well. Courtney Riley was a contributor to the effort by Blackburn as well, tallying ten points with eight rebounds. 

Harris blocked three shots in the game, which was the entirety of Blackburn's total blocks. She played for 38 minutes total in the game. Box recorded three steals in the game, and Hopson collected one. As a team, Blackburn was 24-66 on field goals, 3-19 on three-pointers, and 17-23 on free throws. Blackburn finished with 32 rebounds, eleven assists, three blocks and four steals.

 

Eureka was led offensively by Abby Stotler. She finished with 17 points, while also recording four assists as well as a block and a steal. Stotler also had nine rebounds, just one shy of finishing with a double-double in the game. Olivia Falls was able to achieve this however, finishing with twelve rebounds and eleven points. Falls also had two steals, as well as two assists. Savanah Moore finished with twelve points, and Alaina Vance tallied thirteen of her own. Shakaya Rogers recorded eleven points with six rebounds and five assists. She shot 4-5 on field goals, and was a perfect 2-2 on three-pointers. 

Multiple players for Eureka contributed to the defensive effort of the team. Vance led the team with three steals, while Marissa Murphy, Stotler, Seairah Moore, and Rogers each finished with one. As a team, Eureka totaled eleven steals. Stotler had the only block for Eureka in the game.

As a team, Eureka was 35-77 on field goals, 12-25 on three-pointers, and 10-13 on free throws. The team finished with 54 rebounds, and 26 assists.

 

 

With this game in the books, Blackburn moves to an overall record of 1-8. Their final regular season match will take place on Saturday, April 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. Blackburn will host the Lady Panthers of Greenville University. The game will be played at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.
