Women's Basketball Unable to Handle Spalding

The Blackburn Women's Basketball Team fell to conference foe Spalding by the score of 65-54 as Blackburn struggled from three. The Beavers was held 2 of 17 from three.  Spalding was able to dominate the class grabbing 16 offensive rebounds. Spalding had a 12 point advantage at half. Natalie Fichter was a problem in the first half scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds. Positively Blackburn out-scored the Golden Eagles 26-12 in the paint in the half. Blackburn was led by Callista Francis with 12 points and seven boards. In the third quarter Blackburn was able to trim the lead down to just five with 1:30 left. Spalding would finish the quarter on a 6-2 run to bring the lead to nine headed to the fourth. The fourth started with both teams trading baskets before both teams went cold from the floor as no points were scored for four minutes. With 2:17 left the Beavers were only down three points. Spalding would finish on a 9-0 to close the game. Fichter scored another 15 in the second half to lead the Golden Eagles with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Blackburn was led by Francis as she scored 16 points and grabbed 10 boards. Mariah Hopson followed with 14 points and eight rebounds.
