The Backburn women’s basketball team hosted Eureka College this evening for their first SLIAC matchup of the season. The Beavers were defeated by the Red Devils with a final score of 104-59. Putting the Beavers 0-3 in the conference.
Although the beavers take a tough loss, Senior Aryanna Harris got the team 13 points, 6 rebounds and dished out 2 assists. Also, Kaela Vincent and Elizabeth Morris both score 10 points for the Blackburn Beavers. The loss of Mariah Hopson late in the first half made a tough challenge for the Beavers to find their grove with new players in the second half.
The Eureka Red Devils were led by Sydney Hamlin who scored 43 points, also, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Red Devils were also led by Jurnee Flournoy who racked up 20 points and 3 assists, both of these players help lead the Red Devils to their first conference win of this season, putting them 1-2 in conference play.
The Blackburn Beavers will travel to Principia College this weekend January 14 to take on the Panthers at 1 p.m.
