Injuries Haunt Beavers in Difficult Loss to Greenville

Blackburn Women’s Basketball lost their home regular season game on Saturday afternoon to the SLIAC conference opponent, the Greenville Panthers. The Beavers were defeated by the Panthers by the score, 96-47.

 

A difficult game all around, the Beavers were haunted by injuries before the game even began. Mariah Hopson had previously suffered an injury during a game where she wore an elbow to the mouth. In addition to this, Aryanna Harris was unable to compete in the game due to a leg injury. Though Hopson was able to play in this match, coming back from injury is always difficult.

 

Despite the Beavers losing by a tough 49 points, Juliette Adlawan scored 16 points for the team, and collected five rebounds. Senior Mariah Hopson followed up with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman Kaela Vincent had a strong effort also with seven points and four rebounds.

 

 The Greenville Panthers were led by Savana Powell-Goodman who scored 16 points. She also had four rebounds and two assists. Greenville’s Carolina Hoffman led them in assists with nine and had a respective six points with two steals. Powell-Goodman led the Panthers in the steals category with five, propelling them to this impressive win.

 

 

The Beavers move to an overall record of 2-14. They will play at home against another conference foe, Webster University on Wednesday, January 25th. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
