Women’s Basketball Fall against Knox

GALESBURG, IL – Blackburn's College Women's Basketball visited Knox College in a non-conference game, yet fell to the Prairie Fire to the score of 88-51.

 

Senior Ashanti Jones led the effort for Blackburn with twelve points. Followed by Freshman Kailynn Kruep with seven points, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman Becca Benoit and Gracie Jent, respectively, led in the categories of rebounding and assist. As Benoit collected nine boards, and Jent dished out three assists.

 

Blackburn struggled to establish a rhythm from the start as Knox came out with a 22-6 run in the first quarter. Until a couple of baskets by Benoit and Jent stoped the bleeding to take the game into the second quater, 10-22. Yet Knox went on strong rally that quarter to go into halftime up by 27 with the score, 25-52. The Prairie Fire would continue on to increase their lead in the third quarter to 36, going into the fourth with the score, 38-74. In the fourth quarter, Knox would have their biggest lead of the game with Mae Callahan hitting a jumper with 4 minutes left in the game, to go up by 41, 83-42. Nonetheless, the Beavers never gave up and outscored Knox the rest of the quarter, 9-5. But the Prairie Fire still ended up winning comfortably by the final score, 51-88.  

 

Blackburn drops to 2-3 and hope to bounce back at home when they face off against Rockford University on Tuesday, November 28th at 5:30 pm.
