Women's Basketball Drops Conference Matchup

CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Women's Basketball hosted new St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Lyon College Saturday afternoon but fell to the Scots in conference action.

Leading the Beavers was senior Elizabeth Morris with 12 points and five rebounds. Junior Ashanti Jones added eleven points while freshman Becca Benoit had nine. Sophomore Zoe Mitchell paced the  team with nine rebounds. Freshman Kenadee Frey had six rebounds and freshman Kailynn Kruep had five. Senior Aryanna Harris finished the game with three blocked shots.

Sophomore Caidy Tuetken started the game with a steal and Mitchell then scored to give BC the 2-0 lead. After a three by the Scots, Benoit made a layup and free, giving the Beavers a 5-3 advantage. However, the guests rallied to take a lead that proved too much to over as Lyon would eventually take a 103-65 victory.

Blackburn returns to action Wednesday when they head to conference-leader Webster University.
