ELSAH, IL -- The Blackburn College Women's Basketball outscored Principia College 35-29 in the second half, but a slow first half proved too much to overcome as the Beavers fell to Principia 78-58 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
Freshman Becca Benoit led the team with a career-high 16 points, including a 6-6 performance from the free throw line. Junior Ashanti Jones added 11 points. Sophomore Caidy Tuetken paced the squad with eight rebounds.
Blackburn held a 6-2 lead early in the game, but Principia rallied to take a 17-6 lead which BC was unable to overcome.
The Beavers return to action Wednesday and will visit Fontbonne University in another SLIAC contest.
