Women’s Basketball celebrate Jones, Harris, and Morris on Senior Day

CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Women's Basketball was defeated by the Greenville University Panthers in their last home season game in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic play, 83-53.

Today, Blackburn celebrated the careers of three seniors: Ashanti Jones, Aryanna Harris, and Elizabeth Morris. They were honored before tip-off with family and teammates for their great collegiate basketball careers.

The Beavers were led by Senior Ashanti Jones with 14 points. Jones was followed by four teammates as Danielle Vogel, Becca Benoit, Gracie Jent and Kailynn Kruep ended up with 5 points apiece. Four Beavers also led the team in the assist category as all three seniors, Jones, Harris, Morris and Sophomore Kenadee Frey had 2 assists. Sophomore Caidy Tuetken led Blackburn in rebounding with 7. Followed closely by fellow Sophomore Zoe Mitchell with 5 rebounds. Blackburn would lead the game in blocks as they had 5, compared to Greenville with 3.

In the 1st quarter, Blackburn and Greenville started the game going back and forth as a Jones layup at the 7:04 mark would make the score, 6-5. Nonetheless, Greenville would withhold a lead to end the quarter up by seven, 19-12. 

In the 2nd quarter, Blackburn would try to battle, yet the Panthers would be right there with them to go into halftime with a lead of five, 36-31.

In the 3rd and 4th quarter, Greenville would pull away as they would hold the Beavers to 9 points in the 3rd and would have their biggest scoring in the 4th with 16 points. The Panthers would comfortably take the win with the final score, 83-51.   

Blackburn Women's Basketball end their 2023-24 season with a 3-22 record.
