Women's Basketball Ready to Tip Off 2024-2025 Season
CARLINVILLE, IL—The Blackburn College Women's Basketball team is a young team looking to build on their newfound experience as they head into this season and make an immediate mark in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Beavers want to improve this year as they retained most of the team and build off the experience they gained from last year. Blackburn was led by Kailynn Kruep who recorded 221 points in her Freshman year and shot 36% from the field; she would also lead the team in steals with 38. Ella Wilson and Zoe Mitchell look to lead the Beavers in the paint as they both shot over 40% in the paint last year and defensively both had 90 rebounds. Miley Kwiatkowski will enter her senior season looking for an expanded role. Gracie Jent attempted only 15 threes last season but looks to lead a bigger role this season in the offense. Caidy Tuetken hopes to step up and fill the role as the Beaver's primary ball handler and continue her role defensively. She tallied up 101 rebounds and 23 steals last season.
Freshman Miya Means and Niya Fulcher will look to make an immediate impact on the team early in the season and will both compete for time. Amya Harris will join the team after transferring in from Bay College and will look to use her experience to help make an immediate impact on the team. Claudia Bennet will join the team in her sophomore year as she hopes to make an important impact on the team and compete for minutes.
Blackburn kicks off the season this weekend with a trip to Wisconsin where they will visit Mount Mary University on Friday and take on Alverno College on Saturday. The team hosts Hannibal-La Grange University on November 13th for their home opener.
