The Beavers Fall Short in Tough Battle to the Golden Eagles
LOUISVILLE, KY– The Blackburn College Women’s Basketball team was in Louisville Kentucky to take on Spalding University on Thursday in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Beavers fought a tough battle but lost 76-55.

Senior Caidy Tuetken and Sophomore Kenadee Frey lead the Beavers with 16 and 15 points. Sophomore Gracie Jent was 50% from the arch and contributed the next highest score with 9 points. Tuetken and Frey also lead in rebounds with 9 and 8. The Beavers matched the Golden Eagles in the second with 18 points and in the fourth quarter with 19 points.
The Golden Eagles started off with a strong lead in the first quarter. Sophomore India Harris stunted that lead with a free throw to put the Beavers on the board. The Beavers hit 5 three pointers with 3 of those being from Jent. They went on a 5 point run with 2 minutes going into the second quarter. They quickly gained speed to keep with the eagles leading into halftime.
Coming out of the half, The Beavers picked it up defensively to keep with the Eagles as they held them to their lowest 15 points. Junior Amya Harris knocks down a three pointer and gains an and one to keep the Beavers within game. With another good possession Tuktuen drains a three with 3 minutes left. Kenadee Frey ends the game with an and one to bring the Beavers to end with a total of 55 points.
The Beavers return to action this Saturday to take on Westminster College in more SLIAC action.
