Women’s Basketball Falls to Webster
CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn College Women’s Basketball team faced St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference power Webster University on Wednesday but the Beavers were unable to pull off the upset as they fell to the back-to-back SLIAC Champions.
CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn College Women's Basketball team faced St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference power Webster University on Wednesday but the Beavers were unable to pull off the upset as they fell to the back-to-back SLIAC Champions.
Sophomore Kenadee Frey was the top scorer for the Beavers with 15 points. Amya Harris and Zoe Mitchell aided the offense, both having eight points each. India Harris led the team in rebounds with 10.
The Gorloks came out strong, taking the lead 9-0 within the first three minutes. Frey started off the scoring for the Beavers after sinking a three-pointer. Scoring went back and forth before Mitchell made a jump shot, putting the team just one point away from the Gorloks at 13-12. Webster dominated the rest of the first half and finished it in the lead, 55-24.
In the second half, the Webster Gorloks took full control and held onto their lead. They finished the game with a final score of 91-48.
The Beavers are back in action Saturday afternoon to take on the Panthers of Principia College.
