Harris' hot hands lead Beavers in Loss to Eagles

CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn Women's Basketball team hosted Spalding University in St. Louis Intercollegiate Action on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers fell to the Golden Eagles, 76-51.
Sophomore India Harris was the top scorer for the team with 19 points, and was the team leader in rebounds as well with 10. Sophomore Kenadee Frey was the second top scorer with 11 points, and had the most assists at four. Junior Zoe Mitchell had 10 points and eight rebounds. Frey and junior Caidy Tuetken both had five rebounds each.
Junior Amya Harris started off the scoring by making a jump shot, putting the Beavers in the lead. The Golden Eagles answered back two minutes later, and the scoring remained close during the half. India Harris, Mitchell, and Frey continuously scored to keep the score close. The teams entered halftime with Spalding leadig 27-20.
In the second half, India Harris scored first by putting in a jump shot. Frey also made a jump shot, and Harris and Mitchell sank some from the line as well. Spalding then got 10 points ahead of the Beavers. The Golden Eagles held their lead for the rest of the game and defeated the Beavers 76-51.
The Beavers will host Mississippi University for Women in another SLIAC matchup on Thursday evening.
