Harris' 34 Points Lead Blackburn against Lyon on Senior Day
CARLINVILLE, IL - India Harris scored 34 points to led the way, which is the most in a game since before 2010.
CARLINVILLE, IL – Sophomore India Harris scored 34 points to lead he Blackburn College Women's Basketball team against Lyon College in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday, February 15th, at Dawes Gymnasium. Despite a strong offensive performance, the Beavers fell short, losing 94-79.
Blackburn kept the game close in the first quarter, trailing just 20-16. However, Lyon pulled away in the second, outscoring the Beavers 34-15 to take a commanding halftime lead. Blackburn battled back in the fourth quarter with an impressive 34-point effort, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Harris had a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 34 points while grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. This is the most points that have been scored in a women's basketball game in the last 15 years and a career-high.
Kenadee Frey added 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Amya Harris contributed 8 points off the bench. Caidy Tuetken chipped in with 7 points and 5 rebounds, while Zoe Mitchell added 6 points and 5 rebounds.
The Beavers shot an efficient 44.1% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range.
After the game, the team honored seniors Miley Kwiatkowski and Tuetken for their contributions to the team. Kwiatkowski season ended early due to illness and injury but was able to start the game and sank a three on her lone attempt.
Blackburn will look to regroup as they continue SLIAC play as they travel to take on Webster University on Saturday, February 15th.
